Contract Operational Technology (OT) Network Administrator

Seeking a skilled and proactive Contract OT Network Administrator to oversee and maintain the network infrastructure within our Operational Technology (OT) environment. This role requires a deep understanding of industrial network architecture and cybersecurity, as well as experience with enterprise[1]level networking products.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and supporting our industrial networks, which include Cisco IE-3300 and 9300 switches, Palo Alto firewalls, Claroty cybersecurity tools, and wireless solutions from Cambium and TropOS. The candidate will also work closely with our IT and OT security teams to ensure that network operations are secure, resilient, and optimized for performance.

Responsibilities

  • Network Administration: Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco IE-3300 and Catalyst 9300 switches within an OT network. Ensure proper segmentation, VLAN management, and

device connectivity.

  • Firewall Management: Implement, configure, and monitor Palo Alto firewalls to secure network traffic and enforce security policies across OT systems.
  • Cybersecurity: Deploy, manage, and monitor OT security tools such as Claroty CTD and SRA for threat detection and secure remote access. Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards (e.g., IEC-62443).
  • Endpoint Protection: Administer Carbon Black Application Control for OT network endpoints, ensuring that endpoints are protected from unauthorized applications and potential threats.
  • Wi-Fi Management: Oversee wireless network deployments using Cambium and TropOS solutions to ensure seamless and secure connectivity for all OT systems.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Utilize SolarWinds to monitor network performance, bandwidth

utilization, and identify potential issues within the OT environment.

  • Azure Integration: Support the integration and management of Microsoft Azure services into the OT network for cloud-based applications and infrastructure.
  • Incident Response: Participate in network incident response and troubleshooting, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid recovery for OT operations.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain detailed records of network configurations, security protocols, and compliance measures. Assist in ensuring the network aligns with industry standards like IEC-62443.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, OT security, and third party vendors, to support network upgrades, new deployments, and incident response initiatives.

Expected Work Hours

  • Hours: Monday through Thursday, 9-hour days and Friday, 4-hour day.
  • Able to work remotely two days a week, based on business needs
  • Travel Requirements: 5% travel to field locations in EagleFord Shale

Licenses/ Certifications
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Industrial Network Specialist (CCINS), Palo Alto Networks Certified Cybersecurity Associate (PCCSA) or higher, and other relevant certifications are a plus.

Qualifications/ Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working as a network administrator in an OT or industrial environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco IE-3300 and Catalyst 9300 switches
  • Proficient in managing Palo Alto Firewalls and Claroty CTD/SRA
  • Familiarity with SolarWinds for network monitoring and performance analysis
  • Experience with Carbon Black Application Control for endpoint security
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure for cloud integration within an OT environment
  • Experience with Cambium and TropOS Wi-Fi systems

Desired/ Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of OT network security frameworks such as IEC-62443
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and real-time industrial control environments
  • Experience in hybrid IT/OT environments and a solid understanding of security best practices
