Position Details:
Title : Scientist
Location: Durham NC
Duration : 4+ months
Position Overview:
The selected candidate will conduct sample testing to support process development, characterization, developmental stability, validation, and other R&D projects. Responsibilities include cGMP documentation, sample login, data review, instrument maintenance, and additional tasks assigned by management. The role also involves developing, executing, and qualifying new analytical test methods for characterization. The incumbent will work effectively under general supervision and contribute to team efforts supporting R&D projects.
Job Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, the candidate must fulfill the following essential duties:
- Perform technically diverse testing and analysis using modern analytical techniques, including but not limited to:
- Coagulation assays
- Enzymatic assays
- Immunoassays
- Chromatography (HPLC, GC, IC)
- Capillary electrophoresis
- Gel electrophoresis
- Conduct accurate technical/cGXP reviews of work and interpret/understand data trends.
- Contribute to report writing and data analysis.
- Assist in coordinating activities such as method qualification execution, IOQ execution, and small study execution.
- Maintain strong scientific understanding of the test methods and the products/intermediates being tested.
- Recognize aberrant results and initiate investigations when necessary.
- Engage in problem-solving requiring original thought and adapt standard approaches for effectiveness.
- Communicate frequently with personnel from other departments to fulfill project needs.
- Perform instrument maintenance as required.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in modern instrumental analytical techniques such as coagulation assays, enzymatic assays, immunoassays, chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, and gel electrophoresis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong scientific understanding and ability to analyze data.
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic, good judgment, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proactive, results-oriented, and detail-focused.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make structured decisions.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and team-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
Requirements:
- Education/Experience:
- Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Toxicology with 1 year of relevant experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree with 3-4 years of relevant experience; OR
- No degree with 7 years of relevant experience.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
