Job description:
Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, agronomy, or related field preferred. Knowledge of various aspects of growing and maintaining plants, including weeds and crops is highly desired. This individual must possess good observational skills, be familiar with plant needs and be able to recognize stress or unusual growth conditions.
A high degree of diligence, and accuracy is required to achieve high quality results in a safe and prudent manner. Candidates must be flexible and adaptable, to respond to team priorities. Familiarity and working knowledge of MS Excel and Outlook is required as is the ability to learn and use other computer databases and programs.
Perform duties in a greenhouse environment such as seeding, watering, thinning of plants, moving of plants and assist with spraying of plants. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a greenhouse environment. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job safely.
Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Must be able to lift to 35 lbs. Ability to manage exposure to dust, pollen and work in elevated temperatures. Ability to work extended time on your feet, weekend responsibilities possible.
