Business Analyst – Derivatives
Job description
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with a deep understanding of the derivatives asset class. This role will focus on supporting the full trade lifecycle, from front to back office, ensuring the seamless configuration and integration of systems used for trading and risk management. You will play a key part in designing and analyzing technical solutions within the investment management sector, particularly for derivatives trading. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise within a leading firm based in Boston.
Key Responsibilities:
- Front Office Support: Partner with portfolio managers and traders to gather and document requirements for derivatives trading (swaps, options, futures, etc.). Ensure that the system configurations align with the trading strategies and market conditions.
- Systems Configuration & Integration: Lead the design, configuration, and testing of trading systems to support derivatives transactions. Ensure systems are properly set up for trade execution, market data feeds, pricing models, and risk analytics.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Act as a key liaison between front office, middle office, back office, IT, and external vendors to ensure business needs are met and technical solutions are implemented seamlessly.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements across derivatives trading workflows. Leverage technology to automate manual processes and enhance efficiency across the trade lifecycle.
- Testing & UAT: Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and system validation efforts to ensure that derivatives functionality meets business requirements.
Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a strong focus on derivatives (swaps, options, futures, forwards, etc.).
- Experience in front, middle, and back office operations within an investment management firm, including trade execution, settlement, and reporting.
- Familiarity with derivatives trading systems and platforms, and experience in configuring these systems for accurate trade capture and processing.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and reporting requirements for derivatives (e.g., Dodd-Frank, EMIR, MiFID II).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex derivatives data sets.
- Proficiency in SQL or other data query languages is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between business and technology teams.
- Must be local to Boston, MA or willing to relocate.
