Job description
Job Title: Data Center Technician
Location: St. Paul, MN
Duration: 12+ Months (Extension Possible)
Shift is 6 AM – 6 PM, They will work Wednesday-Saturday One week and Thursday-Saturday the next week, alternating.
Description / Summary:
On going support of Data Center / Network Equipment Rooms. Moves/Adds/Changes to servers, routers, switches, and cabling.
Skills & Experience Needed:
2-5 years in the following areas:
- Installation, support and testing of data cables – category 6 cable, fiber, twinax, various power cables and configuration of smart power strips
- Installation, upgrades, and support of hardware such as servers, network, storage – Cisco\HP\Dell\IBM servers, Cisco switches and routers, F5, Checkpoint, DellEMC, NetApp
- Technical support and troubleshooting
- Incident and change management
- Telecommunications – basic understanding
- Previous work in data center environment
- Asset management and asset auditing
Responsibilities:
- Shipping and Receiving of equipment, inventory tracking
- Install/removal/moves new servers, routers, switches and associated cabling
- Cleaning of computer rooms and storage rooms
- Audits and inventory of equipment and small computer parts
- Prepare jobs for night staff
- Create change records
- On-call and respond to Incident tickets
