Job Title: Associate Quality Engineer
Location: Columbus, OH
Duration: 5 + months
Seeking an Associate Quality Engineer to support our Armored Commercial Vehicle’s Business.
Job Summary
The Associate Quality Engineer supports team execution and is accountable for project compliance to Quality Systems (QS) and applicable standards/regulations through collaboration, review, and approval of key project documents. They contribute to Quality Assurance (QA) program development, monitoring, and execution and supports resolution of exceptions. Additionally, they facilitate/support Continuous Improvement within the business(es) they oversee.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to group QS conformance and leads project QS conformance
- Contributes to QA program development, monitoring and execution
- Contributes to project conformance to external and customer requirements
- Contributes to design conformance to requirements
- Contributes to risk management activities both on projects and within the QS
- May support vehicle inspection planning and appraisal
- Oversees Nonconformance and CAPA program, facilitating containment, investigation, disposition, correction / corrective/preventive action, and effectiveness verification.
- Supports vehicle design and manufacturing teams
- Supports or leads Continuous Improvement efforts to reduce the cost of execution, cost of compliance, and cost of quality for the organization
Key Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree (science degree preferred) with at least two years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field. Experience in related industry (in an engineering capacity).
- Familiarity with Quality Engineering tools such as Process Mapping and Root Cause Analysis
- A curious mindset.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work in an open, fast paced, and collaborative manufacturing environment.
- Ability to learn on the fly and deal with ambiguity, seeking answers and making decisions on new topics and within new situations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent proof-reading skills.
- Self-initiative and ability to work independently with minimal guidance or direction.
- Demonstrated ability to set and manage own schedule and to prioritize and organize work.
- Able to effectively communicate with all levels of an organization.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Word.
- Depending on area of support, may be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications - Two or more years of experience in the automotive industry.
- Lean Six Sigma, CQE, or equivalent certification.
- Qualified Internal Auditor (ISO 9001 preferred).
- Experience leading Continuous Improvement efforts.
- Familiarity with more complex Quality Engineering tools such as Risk Management, Tracking and Trending of Quality Data, and Acceptance Sampling and Method Development.
- Working Knowledge of Windchill PLM, IQVIA Pilgrim SmartSolve, and Deltek Costpoint.
