PLC Technician

Job Title: PLC Technician (Overnight Shift)
Location: Acton, MA (Hybrid)
Job Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $30-$45/hour
Shift: Overnight | 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Work Schedule:

• Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and every other Sunday
• Week 2: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and every other Sunday
  Note: 36-hour weeks alternate with 48-hour weeks. 4 hours from 48-hour weeks are flexed to 36-hour weeks to average 40 hours, with 4 hours of overtime every two-week period.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a PLC Technician to support the launch and sustainment of new manufacturing operations in Acton, MA. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a company that is heavily investing in U.S. manufacturing and innovation. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of automated and assembly process equipment.

This position is ideal for someone with strong PLC programming experience and a passion for high-performance automation systems. You’ll be supporting lasers, vision systems, motion control, and various automated stations in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and improve control systems including PLCs (Rockwell ControlLogix), HMIs, VFDs, Servo drives, and vision systems (Cognex, Keyence).
• Support equipment startup, debug, and qualification.
• Perform hands-on electrical wiring and circuit troubleshooting.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and maintain detailed records.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support uptime and reduce scrap.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives for automation reliability and performance.
• Train operators and technicians on equipment operation and maintenance.
• Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and cGMP standards.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience with discrete component assembly equipment and controls.
• Strong knowledge of:
• PLC programming (Rockwell ControlLogix)
• HMI interfaces (FactoryTalk)
• Vision systems (Cognex/Keyence)
• Motion control, Servo, and VFDs (AB & SEW)
• PID loops and process controls
• Hands-on experience with electrical wiring and troubleshooting automated equipment.
• Comfortable working overnight and hybrid in a clean room and GMP-compliant environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
