AV Technician
Job description
Job Description: AV Technician
Pay Range: $20-22/hr
Location: Rosemead California 91770
Duration: 6 months till 31st dec
This is a hands-on, onsite AV break-fix role supporting general users at SCE’s Rosemead campus and surrounding regional sites.
The technician moves conference room to conference room throughout the day, troubleshooting and resolving AV issues so meetings run on time. Think mobile, reactive, and physical: walking the campus, responding to tickets, fixing what’s broken, and getting users back into productive meetings quickly.
This is not a desk-bound desktop support role and it is not a strategic AV engineering role.
It is a service-oriented, feet-on-the-ground technician role where reliability, speed, and bedside manner matter as much as technical skill.
The three things that matter most:
AV troubleshooting instincts (technology-agnostic but able to diagnose quickly), professional onsite presence with general users, and willingness to travel between SCE sites every day.
MUST-HAVES
Onsite in Rosemead, CA: Hard requirement.
Candidate must be local or willing to commute daily to Rosemead. No remote or hybrid component.
Ability to travel between sites: Hard requirement and a hard disqualifier if the candidate cannot travel. The role moves between SCE locations in the surrounding area. Reliable transportation and willingness to drive during the workday is mandatory.
Onsite desktop support background with AV or conference room experience: This is the core profile. Desktop support technicians who have handled conference room break-fix as part of their day-to-day are the target. Pure helpdesk or remote support backgrounds will not work.
AV break-fix capability: Comfortable troubleshooting displays, projectors, video conferencing systems, microphones, speakers, control panels, cabling, and signal flow. Technology-agnostic – we care about diagnostic ability, not specific certifications.
Professional onsite demeanor: Supporting general users in active meeting environments.
Must be calm, polite, and able to resolve issues without disrupting business.
Executive presence is a plus.
Self-directed in a ticket-based environment: Comfortable working tickets, prioritizing urgent meeting-impacting issues, and managing their own day across multiple locations.
NICE-TO-HAVES
Crestron experience (control systems, programming exposure, or end-user troubleshooting)
MS Teams Rooms (MTR) experience – Logitech, Poly, Crestron, Yealink, Neat, etc.
Cisco / Webex Room experience
Zoom Rooms experience
Extron, AMX, QSC Q-SYS, Biamp, or comparable AV control and DSP exposure
AVIXA CTS certification
Cable termination, signal flow troubleshooting, and basic AV rack work
Utility or large-enterprise environment experience
