Job Description
The primary aim for this role is delivering strategically driven, cloud-focused technology initiatives and projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. The candidate should be able to pick up different technology systems, learn key requirements, and dependencies critical to ensuring a successful delivery. Key to the success of this role is having a deep understanding of implementing cloud systems and infrastructures, and being able to translate business needs into well-documented technical solutions. The role will play a key part in the migration of current systems from traditional data centers to a cloud environment. Attention to detail along with strong technical experience will be critical, as well as effective communication skills and a confident drive towards automation of services and their provision.
During the establishment and transition to the cloud, the role will need to support both traditional on-premise systems, VMware, Dell Server and Storage hardware along with working to migrate and rearchitect systems to the cloud in line with business objectives and industry best practices.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Practice continuous improvement and continual learning, staying abreast of trends and changes in the technology field.
  2. Manage and maintain current systems, both on-premise and cloud-based.
  3. Installation and configuration of new systems.
  4. Maintain and create new system documentation as required.
  5. Monitor performance and provide proactive remediation of systems.
  6. Keep systems up to date in line with company standards.
  7. Ensure security, keeping in line with developed policies and practices.
  8. Act as a point of escalation to the Service Desk and other IT functions to resolve issues and requests.
  9. Design and implement cloud solutions, working to agreed standards and principles.
  10. Work closely with other internal IT functions as well as cloud vendors and system integrators.
  11. Communicate effectively (both verbal and written) with other IT personnel, executives, and users.
  12. Provide an escalation point and technical lead when dealing with critical incidents.
  13. Have a “can do” mindset with a strong sense of ownership and following through tasks effectively.
  14. Experience and exposure to working and supporting development teams, including the creation of cloud-native applications and associated tools.

Skills and Experience / Person Specification

We are looking for someone with:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in an engineering/technical subject.
  2. 5 years or greater experience in cloud computing infrastructures.
  3. Advanced certification in cloud solutions (e.g., Azure Solution Architect Expert) is required.
  4. Previous migration experience of complex environments, including a combination of ‘Lift and Shift’ as well as refactoring in-house developed applications.
  5. Experience working with Infrastructure as Code preferable.
  6. Strong understanding of emerging cloud technologies and standards.
  7. Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure including VDI, networking, security best practices, automation technologies, and DevOps operating models.
  8. Appreciation of cloud infrastructure costs and ability to build/maintain cloud infrastructure effectively.
  9. Strong exposure to DevOps tools, e.g., GitHub, and exposure to CI/CD pipelines including Jenkins.
  10. Ability to learn new concepts and carry out technical research.
  11. Demonstrated ability to gain consensus in a diverse working group that may involve both IT and business leaders across multiple disciplines.
  12. Understanding of ITIL IT Service Management methodologies including Change Management.
  13. Demonstrated ability to work on diverse technical and complex projects to completion.
  14. Strong communication skills, collaborating across diverse functional teams.
  15. Experience drafting and delivering communications to ensure full transparency within all levels of the business.
  16. Achievement-oriented with the ability to be flexible and adaptive on a daily basis.
  17. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize workload while being resilient and able to cope well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  18. Flexible working hours along with the ability to work outside normal business hours on an as-needed basis.
  19. Excellent problem-solving skills with a structured thinking process.
  20. Experience in the Private Equity/Finance industry is beneficial.
  21. Experience working with global-based teams covering different time zones is beneficial.

Exposure and Experience with the Following Technology:

  1. Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Windows Server, VDI Infrastructures
  2. Active Directory, Intune Policies, Exchange, and Office 365 Administration
  3. Patching and vulnerability management including certificate updates/management
  4. Solid appreciation of networking and associated infrastructures.
  5. ServiceNow Ticketing System
  6. JIRA and Confluence
  7. Architecture standards and best practices, e.g., TOGAF, ArchiMate, etc., beneficial
