Job Title: Data Engineer
Location: Houston, Tx 77002 – Hybrid, 3 Days Onsite/ Week
Duration: Long Term Contract
Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Server/Oracle Data Engineer – Senior Developer to join our team in a hybrid role. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in SQL Server and Oracle development, a strong understanding of financial or accounting systems, and experience within the oil and gas industry.
This position requires hands-on experience with database development, Python integration, and an understanding of modern application architectures. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment with a focus on high-quality, maintainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL Server and Oracle database solutions
- Build and optimize stored procedures, functions, and performance-tuned queries
- Develop Python scripts to interface with databases and support ETL operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate REST APIs and microservices
- Work closely with financial and accounting stakeholders to support data-driven processes
- Ensure best practices in database development and application performance
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and troubleshooting efforts
Required Qualifications:
- Oil & Gas industry experience is required
- Strong expertise in SQL Server and Oracle database development
- Experience in or exposure to financial/accounting domains
- Hands-on experience with Python for database and ETL scripting
- Familiarity with REST APIs and microservices is a plus
- Prior experience with the IDEAS Accounting System is a significant advantage
