Mainframe Technical Lead (Hybrid in Chicago)

Job Summary:

Dexian is seeking a Mainframe Technical Lead (Hybrid in Chicago) for an opportunity with a client located in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities:

• Leading and mentoring a team of mainframe developers, including COBOL, DB2, VSAM, JCL, and CICS developers
• Managing the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment
• Providing technical solutions, performing code reviews, enforcing coding standards, and ensuring the quality of deliverables
• Diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to mainframe applications
• Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs and designing technical solutions
• Keeping abreast of industry trends and technologies to recommend improvements and innovative solutions
• Identifying opportunities to improve the software development process and team productivity
• Creating and maintaining technical documentation, including functional and technical specifications
• Working with other teams, such as business analysts and QA, to deliver successful projects
• Identifying and mitigating technical risks
• Providing guidance and support to other team members
• Conducting code reviews to ensure adherence to standards and best practices
• Optimizing mainframe systems for performance and efficiency
• Providing support for testing efforts, including defect resolution
• Participating in release management activities
• Understanding the business needs and how mainframe applications support those needs

Requirements:

• Designing DB2 batch programs, SQL Stored procedures
• Re-engineering existing Assembler modules and modernizing them
• Will be migrating Assembler to modern application and this will be a hands-on role
• Recent SQL, DB2 and Assembler are top skills needed
• Hybrid 3X/week in Chicago
• 6 month contract to hire
• 40 hours per week and looking to start asap
