Senior Project Manager, Portfolio Execution, PMO

The Senior Project Manager will be an experienced PMO leader responsible for managing and implementing large corporate initiatives and strategic projects to accelerate winning outcomes for the company by delivering on the organizational strategy to grow and scale, and enable the company to achieve our goals.

This position will be responsible for managing large projects greater than $2M including ownership from initiation to launch and close-out, optimizing project implementation, delivering on time and on budget, collaborating with cross-functional teams, proactively identifying and mitigating risks and resolving issues, and reporting project status to senior leadership, stakeholders, and customers.

The Senior Project Manager will be accountable for delivering measurable project results for ROI and scope achievement, effective resource management, high project team engagement, PMO governance protocols adherence, and continuous improvement implementation. A strong background in project management and experience delivering large, complex, cross functional projects is required.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Provide project management leadership and execution for assigned large initiatives greater than $2M that maximize value and return on investment.
  • Manage development and implementation of business requirements, technical design, coding, testing plans, and production roll-out in an iterative development environment per project charter document.
  • Create and manage schedules, forecasting, budgets, funding gates, milestones, resources, and project charter deliverables for assigned projects that realize target return on investments and scope achievement.
  • Identify potential risks, develop risk mitigation strategies, and implement remediations as needed to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Communicate and align with senior management, project stakeholders, and customers on project financials, ROI performance, delivery status, risks, issues, and issue resolution.
  • Certify that all project deliverables meet or exceed PMO governance policies and procedures.
  • Work with PMO governance to complete project post-completion auditing and issues identification, stakeholder-customer satisfaction surveys, and project documentation archival via PMO close-out procedures.
  • Accountable forPMO Charter metrics at two levels:
    • Project: measured by ROI achievement, budget attainment, schedule variance, customer value, scope adherence, project audit results, and resource utilization.
    • Individual: measured by project utilization, delivery responsibility, stakeholder feedback, policy compliance, position competence.
  • Focus on client outcomes, problem solving, cooperating, and communicating with the rest of the organization to achieve shared success.
  • Cultivate and maintain long-term, collaborative relationships with senior leadership, stakeholders, strategic business partners, development teams, and critical vendors to understand business needs, execute project charter, and ensure software solution meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive understanding, certification, and compliance in all AssetMark PMO operations including project management tools, practices, policies, guidelines, and requirements.
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the project management function.
  • Present concisely and thoughtfully while facilitating discussions that drive clarity.
  • Foster adoption of the PMO vision across cross-functional leadership, team members, and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Exhibit clear, documented experience in a PMO-based project management leadership in which candidate has demonstrated quantifiable results delivering large, complex projects:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, with additional professional certifications such as Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), and/or other advanced certifications considered advantageous.
  • Minimum seven years of experience in a project management role including significant experience managing large, complex technology or process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong experience owning and executing technology development projects including scoping, testing, systems go-live, and other similar technology project attributes.
  • Demonstrated responsibility for professionally managing a minimum of $5,000,000 in project budget or project spend across the total experience listed above.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and align cross-functional teams, stakeholders, customers, and senior business leaders across various areas including user experience, technology, operations, risk management, legal, compliance, and other key partner areas to deliver business outcomes effectively.
  • Effective leader and proven manager, able to balance the need for process and flexibility while playing a client focused role in the prioritization and shepherding of projects to delivery.
  • Expert knowledge of Project Management and application development methodologies, tools and techniques including Waterfall and Agile.
  • Proven ability to operate in a highly entrepreneurial, high-performance, and decentralized environment
  • Deep competence in project management tools including JIRA, Microsoft Project Professional, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Professional (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Access), Adaptive, NetSuite, and Planview.
  • Ability to follow PMO RACI policies and practices to ensure compliance and identify areas of non-compliance and remediation requirements
  • Ability to influence divergent functions and stakeholders to achieve required PMO and corporate objectives that meet or exceed project and customer expectations
  • Ability to create a highly positive working experience in a high-stress environment
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, conveying information clearly and persuasively while articulating facts, thoughts, ideas, and concerns impactfully.
