Staff Accountant – Family Office
Job description
Works alongside a lean team of finance professionals-including the Controller, CFO, and other senior leaders-you’ll take ownership of critical day-to-day accounting functions, from accounts payable and household expenses to financial reporting and cash flow forecasting. This is a rare chance to work directly with C-suite executives and gain insight into the inner workings of a well-connected, growth-focused office. Ideal for candidates currently in public accounting (Big 4 preferred), especially those who’ve recently made senior and are looking to transition into a strategic in-house role.
Key Responsibilities:

- Handle full-cycle accounting tasks: journal entries, AP/AR, bank and investment account reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Maintain and update supporting schedules and documentation for audits and internal use.
- Assist in budget planning, cash forecasting, and financial modeling efforts.
- Monitor and track spending for the office and related household entities.
- Help prepare Board materials and financial packages for internal stakeholders.
- Participate in special projects including process improvement initiatives and software integrations.
- Partner with the Senior Accountant and Controller on internal control development.
- Stay current on accounting standards, tax law changes, and emerging best practices.
- Contribute to a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and proactive problem-solving.

- Support the development and documentation of internal controls in conjunction with the Senior Accountant, Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer.

- Show a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth in accounting and financial operations.
Experience and Professional Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 1-4 years of accounting experience.
- CPA or CPA track preferred.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and general ledger fundamentals.
- Experience reconciling bank accounts and handling AP/AR functions.
- Proficiency with accounting systems; experience with system implementations is a plus.
- Exposure to or interest in private equity, investment vehicles, and financial services.
- Able to manage sensitive financial information with discretion and integrity.
