Pay rate: $ 81 – 82.70 hourly on W2

JOB SUMMARY

We have two projects that we need this construction and safety manager for:

  • Twin Peaks: smaller project and we are planning to start construction in May, finishing in September.
  • Denali larger project and we are planning to start construction in September, finishing mid 2026.

Construction Manager

The construction manager is responsible for construction management, safety, and quality on capital projects located in San Jose, CA. Projects are typically retrofit or expansion of existing facilities with scope including office fit out, clean room installation, and the installation of equipment related to chemical production, purification, and packaging processes. Project budgets vary from 2 to 30 million with 12 month schedules. On-site presence is expected since daily interaction with contractors, safety and quality personnel is required.

Construction Manager Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee construction sites, general contractors, and workers to ensure a high level of safety and quality, with a goal of zero safety incidents on all projects.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Completes day to day coordination of construction activities, ensuring contractor efficiency.
  • Guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with approved project specifications and procedures. Ensures that any deviations from plans are identified and corrective actions implemented as required.
  • Manages construction contracting from initial bidding efforts through contract closeout including review of construction scopes, managing competitive bidding efforts and bid reviews, and ensuring contractor compliance with all contract requirements and documents.
  • Manages contractor change orders, reviewing contractor justification, estimates and completes change order negotiations for review and approval by project stakeholders.
  • Reviews and manages the progress of contractors’ construction schedules.
  • Reviews weekly and monthly reports on the status and progress of the contracts, including project costs and potential changes.
  • Coordinates project updates, including safety and quality meetings as needed.
  • Provides regular updates to clients and upper management, addressing any concerns or changes as needed
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project coordination
  • Oversees project permitting efforts, including coordination between the engineer of record and the authority having jurisdiction, as well as coordination of all required building inspections
  • Conducts quality assurance inspections during and after the completion of work to ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements
  • Coach, mentor, and provide guidance to team members, promoting their professional development and growth
  • Supports the project on-boarding process for contractors, their crews and other team members
  • Collaborates with safety and quality managers to address and resolve safety and quality concerns
  • Other duties as assigned

Construction Manager Qualifications / Skills:

  • Knowledge of construction technology, safety, and quality principles
  • Experience with commercial building construction, clean room construction, and installation of chemical production processes
  • Proficient with project budgeting and forecasting processes and tools
  • Proficient in project controls, including schedule management processes and tools
  • Capable of conducting risk assessments and implementing mitigation plans
  • Conceptual planning ability
  • Conflict management and critical thinking skills
  • Leadership ability
  • Multi-tasking ability
  • Strong communication, meeting, and presentation skills

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelors in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or other related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience as construction manager with experience across commercial building construction, clean room construction, and installation of chemical production processes
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite of tools
  • OSHA 30 certification minimum
  • Experience and capable of interpreting ASME, ACI, Building Construction and Owner Standards and Procedures
  • Experience with Accident Investigations and reports
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
