US – Scientific Engineering Expert 1

Job Title: Engineering Technician
Work Location: Carlsbad, CA
Pay rate: $27-30/hr
Duration : 12 months

Hours: 8am-5pm or 7am-4pm
Location: 100% on-site in Carlsbad

Duties: will design systems for gas/delivery and go into lab to build what was designed, designing chemical reactors, designing hood space
Skills: VISIO & ASPEN
Lab experience/ chemical handling
Safety: Understands chemical hazards
Associates with hands-on system building experience (reactors/hood system)

Description:

We are looking for an engineer to help with the following tasks:
– Designing and installing new equipment in the lab: Hood manifolds, reactors, rotavapors, and other tools and equipment
– Complete P&IDs for systems in the labs
– Coordinate safety review/hazard assessment of the designed system and make modifications as needed to ensure all safety standards are met
– Build approved system
– Test system
– Upgrade distillation and reactor system as needed
– Learn to fix and repair laboratory equipment in the lab: GC, GC-MS, glovebox, hood system, ovens, distillation systems, test equipment, flammable cabinets, replacing and checking relieve devices
– Lead and complete hazard assessments (HARIET) and system revalidations with manager support.
– Updating work instructions
– Operate lab equipment as needed: Distillation, Rotavapor, Gas cabinets
– Support safety systems statistics compilation and correcting action items as needed: safety observations, implementing near-miss corrective actions, assist PI in their day to day tasks.
– Support our Chemical inventory reconciliation and inventory system in general
– Safety statistics tracking and presentation compiling
