CAD Designer

Job description

We are seeking skilled CAD Designers for Full-Time career opportunities who will generate solid geometry computer models and 2D engineering drawings for systems, product assemblies, and components.

In this leading product development engineering organization, CAD Designers combine skill and knowledge of products and processes to bring innovative designs to life, emphasizing accuracy and speed in developing equipment that enable the company to be an industry leader.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Develop part and assembly models in SolidWorks 3D CAD
  • Design components to be manufactured using: sheet plastic routing and fusion welding, sheet metal bending and rolling, waterjet cutting, plate and tubing welding, CNC machining, and other processes
  • Create and revise production engineering drawings (assemblies, components, and layouts) that include multiple detailed views, on time and within budget
  • Collaborate with production personnel to understand and design within fabrication and assembly process requirements and for efficient manufacturing and assembly
  • Create and release bills of materials for mechanical assemblies
  • Utilize our SolidWorks Product Data Management system to maintain well organized file storage, revisions, and lifecycle management of CAD files
  • Participate in Design Reviews
  • Check drawings prepared by Engineers and other Designers to meet design best practices

Requirements:

  • CAD certification and/or two-year technical AA degree
  • 5 years of work experience
  • Advanced skill with SolidWorks CAD and PDM
  • Portfolio of work that demonstrates 3D modeling capability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated, accountable, and continuously improving
  • Ability to work well with others on a cross-functional team

Preferred:

  • Plan and elevation system views in AutoCAD Mechanical
  • Piping systems design
  • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
  • Administration of Product Data Management systems
  • Advanced SolidWorks design modules including frames, routing, sheet metal, and large assemblies
  • Structural analysis using SolidWorks Simulation FEA
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ANSI Y14.5
  • Electrical schematic creation in AutoCAD Electrical
