Title – Laboratory Technician

Location : Diamond Bar, CA

Duration – 3-6 months

Pay rate : $26-27/hr

Job Summary

The Lab Technician ensures that all necessary testing is completed in a timely manner per protocol, and that any non-compliances are elevated. The primary job responsibilities include sample receipt, source and product testing, and reporting internal and external results into the data system. This position works primarily in the laboratory within QA, but also works with various cross-functional teams.

Essential Functions

· Receives and checks-in samples in an orderly and organized fashion. Responsible for retrieving and ensuring that all samples are received per SOP and are associated with a Chain of Custody. Samples should be tested in a First-In-First-Out fashion, unless a rush request is indicated on the Chain of Custody with a corresponding email notification.

· Performs routine in-house laboratory testing to ensure that source and product quality meets specification. This includes, but is not limited to, Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectroscopy, FTIR, titration, and Ion Chromatography. Actively communicates with supervisor regarding out-of-specification, out-of-trend, and investigation results.

· Performs chemical, biological, physical, package, and sensory evaluation of consumer/customer complaints, and documents results in data management system. Upholds timeframe for consumer/customer complaint sample retention, and documents sample destruction.

· Performs calibrations, verifications, and daily checks for all testing performed in the laboratory per SOP. Documents all results, calibrations, and system suitability checks in data management system. Notifies supervisor of any issues regarding instrumentation and testing.

· Files laboratory documentation, data, and reports into the appropriate data management systems per SOP.

· Performs instrument maintenance, including but not limited to, filling eluent bottle, changing fibers, changing column, preparing standards, basic troubleshooting, verifying results, etc.

· Maintains a clean and safe laboratory environment on a daily basis. Responsible for general housekeeping of the lab. Ensures floors are mopped, countertops are wiped down at the end of the shift, and trash and recyclables are disposed of in the appropriate receptacles.

· Upholds an active inventory of the chemicals commonly used in the laboratory, including but not limited to name, quantity on site, storage container and location, description, CAS, etc. Notifies the supervisor of any new reagents needed.

· Maintains current knowledge of chemical and biological safety. Technician is responsible for reviewing and understanding the Safety Data Sheets prior to working with any chemicals.

Qualifications

· Minimum Qualifications:

o 2 Years – Experience in Science or similar manufacturing environment

o 2 Years – Experience in Laboratory

· Preferred Qualifications:

o 2 Years- Experience in Chemistry or similar manufacturing environment

o 2 Years – Experience working in Analytical laboratory

o 0 Years – Experience managing people/projects

Competencies

· Knowledge of basic laboratory and chemical safety.

· Strong attention to detail and effectively organization skills.

· Performs work well under minimal supervision.

· Strong verbal, writing, and presentation skills.

· Handles basic issues and problems per protocol, and elevates effectively.

· Ability to work well in both independent and collaborative group environments.

· Basic knowledge of and experience with MS office and data management tools.

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
